How to Schedule a Post on Facebook: Tools Compared

How to schedule a post on Facebook with a third-party tool, and which Facebook schedulers fit best, compared on free plans, price, features and data export.

By Updated Data checked through 5 min read

To schedule a post on Facebook with a tool, connect your Facebook account, write the post once, and choose a date and time or add it to a queue. Among Facebook schedulers, Zoho Social ranks first with 96 out of 100, ahead of Posterly.

The criterion that separates the top two is free plan or trial: Free plan (Free). The rest of this guide shows the steps first, then the tools, then who each one is wrong for.

How to schedule a post on Facebook with a scheduling tool

The steps are the same in almost every tool, so the choice of tool comes down to price, limits and extras.

  1. Sign up for the tool and connect your Facebook account. Read the vendor's help page first, because each vendor documents which account types it can post to.
  2. Write the post in the composer. Add the text, links and images or video, and check the preview.
  3. Pick a time. Either choose a date and time, or send the post to a queue that fills the next open slot.
  4. Check the calendar. A calendar view shows gaps and clashes before they go live.
  5. Review the result after the post goes out, in the tool's analytics or on Facebook itself.

A third-party scheduler is worth the extra login when you post to more than one network, share a queue with teammates or want reports in one place. If you do, the full social media scheduling ranking explains what to look for across networks.

How we picked

A Facebook scheduler is judged on whether it supports Facebook, what it costs for a normal setup and what the free plan really allows. The scorecard applies the same criteria to every tool and counts only tools whose verified platform list includes Facebook, so a tool that has not been verified for the platform does not rank here. Read how we score for the formulas.

Every one of the 135 social media scheduling tools we looked at is scored by the same 8 criteria (scorecard version 2), each from the vendor's own pricing page, docs or changelog. 117 had enough verified data to be ranked. A criterion without verified data is left out and the remaining weights are re-normalised; under 60% of the weight covered means the tool is not ranked.

Scorecard criteria, weights and what each measures
CriterionWeightTypeWhat we measure and how
Entry price25%CorePrice per month of the cheapest paid plan, against the prices of other social media scheduling tools on the same billing basis (monthly-billed prices against monthly, annual-billed against annual).Formula: Log scale. Billed monthly: $9/month or less = 100, $49 or more = 0. Only billed annually: $9/month or less = 100, $58 or more = 0. Only free plans = 100. Usage-priced and one-time plans are not scored.
Free plan or trial15%CoreWhether you can use the tool before paying: a free plan, or failing that a free trial, as shown on the vendor's pricing page.Formula: Free plan = 100. No free plan but a free trial = 60. The pricing page lists plans but shows neither = 0. No plans read = not scored.
Pricing transparency10%CoreHow much of the pricing is public: the share of plans with a published price ("contact sales" counts against), and whether there are at least 3 published tiers.Formula: 80 x (plans with a public price / plans listed) + 20 x (public plans, up to 3) / 3. No plans read = not scored.
Verified features15%CoreHow many of the 19 features we track for this category the vendor's own pages verifiably show (posting queue, bulk scheduling (csv or multi-post), calendar view, first-comment scheduling, direct auto-publishing, recurring posts, media library, ai caption assistant, post and account analytics, report exports (pdf/csv), best-time-to-post suggestions, approval workflows, user roles and permissions, separate client workspaces, unified social inbox, white-label reports, link tracking (utm / short links), content repurposing, ugc collection). This counts verified features only: a tool that documents less scores lower here, and only here.Formula: Linear: verified features / 10 (half the tracked list) x 100, capped at 100. No tracked feature verified = not scored.
API, integrations and export10%CoreWhether a public API exists, how many integrations the vendor states, and whether the vendor documents a way to export your data.Formula: Average of the parts with data: public API yes = 100, no = 0; integrations on a log scale (100 or more = 100); a documented data export = 100. None verified = not scored.
Platform coverage10%CategoryHow many of the 15 social platforms we track the vendor says the tool supports.Formula: Linear: platforms / 10 x 100, capped at 100. No verified platform list = not scored.
Cost per connected account10%CategoryMonthly price per connected account on the cheapest paid plan that allows at least 3 social accounts.Formula: Log scale: $2 per account or less = 100, $40 or more = 0. Plans that do not state an account limit are not used.
Free plan limits5%CategoryWhat the free plan allows: connected accounts (full marks at 3), scheduled posts per month (full marks at 100).Formula: Each stated limit linear up to its full mark (unlimited = 100), averaged. Tools without a free plan, or whose free plan states none of these limits, are not scored here.

The ranking

The table is filtered to the tools verified for Facebook. Each row shows the price, whether a free plan exists and the date the pricing page was last read. For other networks, see the Facebook platform page or the category's scheduling guide.

Each value links the vendor page it was read from (hover for the check date). Coverage is the share of the scorecard's weight with verified data, and "N of M criteria" how many criteria the score is based on; a tool is ranked at 60% or more.

Score is 0 to 100 on the category scorecard; coverage is the share of scorecard weight with verified data. Prices are list prices in US dollars from each vendor's pricing page; the Checked column is the newest date any fact of that tool was verified. 11 listed without a score because under 60% of the weight has verified data. How the score works: methodology.

Free or paid: what fits a Facebook page

A page that posts a few times a week can often live on a free plan. The question is which limit you hit first. Zoho Social caps users, TrackMedia caps scheduled posts per month, and Fedica lists 12 social accounts, 10 scheduled posts total, which is a trial-sized allowance for a page that posts often. Count your own posts per month and your logins before you pick.

Paid plans matter once you need a queue that refills itself, a second person with access, or reports for an owner or client. At that point compare the entry price in the table with the user limit on that plan, because an entry plan often allows one user only. Features worth checking on Facebook are first-comment scheduling, a calendar view and approvals, all of which appear in the bullets below only where the vendor lists them.

If you manage several Pages for different clients, the guide to managing multiple social media accounts covers workspace and user limits in detail.

Zoho Social is the strongest all-round answer for a business page. It combines a free plan with a wide platform list, first-comment scheduling and a calendar, and its paid plans start at $10 per month. The weak spot is users: both the free and entry plans allow one person, so a team that shares the page needs a higher tier.

TrackMedia is built by the team behind this site and is scored the same way as the others. It lists a queue and a calendar, first-comment scheduling and direct publishing, with a free plan that caps scheduled posts per month. For a small business with one Facebook page it is enough, and it grows through plans that add users and workspaces.

Posterly suits someone who wants a low yearly price and exportable analytics reports. It has no free plan, only a short trial, and it sells by the year, which suits a business that already knows it will post for months. It lists bulk scheduling, which helps when you plan a month of Facebook posts at once.

Iconosquare combines scheduling with analytics and listening. It lists first comments, approvals and an inbox, which suits a brand that cares about measuring Facebook results more than about the lowest price. The free plan is small (2 social accounts, 1 user), and its platform list is shorter than the leaders'.

RecurPost is built around recurring posts, which suits a Facebook page that reuses evergreen content, such as a menu, a service or a standing offer. It has no free plan, only a trial, so you can test it for a short period but not keep a free page running on it.

Who should not pick it

What we did not test

We did not use any of these tools. The data comes from the vendors' public pages, and the scores come from code. It does not tell you whether a scheduled Facebook post publishes on time, whether images and links render as expected, whether the tool supports Facebook Stories, Reels or groups, or how the tool handles a lost connection to your Page. The catalogue does not record those details per tool, so check them on the vendor's help pages. For the full list of what we leave out, see what we did not test.

– = not published by the vendor, or not verified yet.

Frequently asked questions

Can I schedule a Facebook post for free?

Yes. Zoho Social lists a free plan with 1 workspace, 6 social accounts, 1 user, and TrackMedia lists one with 15 scheduled posts per month, 1 user, 1 workspace, 1 storage gb. Check that the free plan includes Facebook before you connect your account.

What do I need before I can schedule a Facebook post with a tool?

You need a login for the scheduling tool and a Facebook account with access to the Page or profile you want to post to. Each vendor documents which Facebook account types it supports, so read its help pages first. The catalogue records only that Iconosquare supports Facebook, in a platform list of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads.

Can I add a first comment when I schedule a Facebook post?

Some tools can. TrackMedia lists first-comment scheduling as Yes and Zoho Social lists it as Yes. Check the tool's own page for how it behaves on Facebook.

Is it safe to switch Facebook scheduler later?

It depends on whether the tool lets you export your data. Posterly lists its export as Analytics reports for clients or internal reviews and Fedica lists Analytics stats can be exported, so ask before you build a large calendar in any tool.

Which of the social media scheduling tools for Facebook ranks first on SaaSHunter?

Zoho Social has the highest score, 96 out of 100, among the 64 social media scheduling tools for Facebook with enough verified data to be ranked. Its facts were last checked Oct 14, 2026. Scores are computed from the published scorecard and change when the underlying facts change.

Which social media scheduling tools for Facebook have a free plan?

22 of the 64 ranked social media scheduling tools for Facebook list a free plan: Zoho Social, Iconosquare, Publer, TrackMedia, Multi Upload Tool, Supaslides, Fedica, Planoly, Pallyy, Metricool, ReelPilot, Donivo, Wahlu, Planable, Social Champ, PostNitro, Quso.ai, Viraloop, PostPeer, CoSchedule, Spikes Studio, brightbean-studio. What the free plan allows differs, so check the limits column before choosing.

What is the lowest starting price among social media scheduling tools for Facebook?

Among the ranked social media scheduling tools for Facebook, Delulu Social has the lowest paid starting price at $4.99 per month. Tools charge per seat, per connected account or per workspace, so the units differ and the lowest sticker price is not always the lowest bill for your setup.

How are the social media scheduling tools for Facebook scored?

Each tool is scored from 0 to 100 on 8 weighted criteria taken from the same scorecard for every tool: entry price, free plan or trial, pricing transparency, verified features, api, integrations and export, platform coverage, cost per connected account, free plan limits. Criteria without verified data are left out and the weights re-normalised; a tool with under 60% of the weight covered is listed as not ranked.
